At work this week of Christmas week, I have learned a couple of things and figured I would share everything I have learned, done and seen. Lets start with work.
This week at ICS I have learned that the Orem store is a lot slower then Salt Lake store ever is in the winter time. Its just been so so slow that I am more tired when I get home then when I am super busy. I almost have cabin fever from being in the doors for such a long period of time. At least I have had Andy (co-worker) who is out of school for break to keep me company and entertained.
I have learned that its ok to wear BYU colors one day and Utah colors the next. I supported both teams in there bowl games this week. The only person that noticed was Andy and he really did not mind. He believe we need to support both schools during the bowl season. So yes, I wore blue/white one day and red/black the next. Although I felt weird and out of place on the second cloths selection. Congrats the the Cougs and Utes for winning there bowl games against the Pac 10. Maybe those wins and a hopeful win for TCU will give the BCS leaders some insight to the Mountain West Conference.
I also learned I am really horrible at board games. This week I lost three games of risk, once game of life and one game of scrabble. I just cant win. Over the last couple of years I have told people I hate board games and cant play them. Well this week karma came knocking. Sure enough, it holds true and I cant win.
I also came to realize that Christmas traditions cause more problems then they help solve. Old traditions take preference over new ones or one that want to be created. Its the way its going to be and stay. To me tradition is a big part of life, but if some are not set aside or stopped new ones cant be created to make the holiday spirit bright. Times change, so should traditions. But I will continue to please old traditions and wait on new ones for a later time.
I am also grateful for the Holiday season. It nice that it only comes only one time a year. I don't think we as humans could handle more then one. Its funny to see how the Holidays are a good thing and a bad thing. Happy consists of everyone being more friendly, cheerful and in tune with giving and sharing. On the flip side, the worse comes out in people, driving curiously is out the door, everyone is trying to get some where faster then the other (even if the weather is bad), every ones is looking for help or hand outs around the holidays and traditions (enough said).
I am grateful for this time of year and have learned this year that me and my own family don't put enough emphases on Christ in Christmas. I need to be better the next time around. I see that its more of a pagan holiday then a spiritual holiday of what it should be. Although, we have seen family and spent time with them which has made it nice. Merry Christmas everyone and Happy New Years as well.
