Cornbelly's- thanksgiving Point

To get the kids into the spirit of Halloween, we took them to the Cornbelly activities at Thanksgiving Point. It was a lot of fun. I met the family at Thanksgiving point after work and picking up J Dawgs hot dogs in Provo (thanks Andrew for getting me hooked on these things- Glorious!!). Anyway we ate then went on all the activities that they offered. Tait liked the bouncing pads and even though bigger kids would run over the mat and send him flying he did not want to get off or leave. Tough little kid! Kinni on the other hand was a little more stubborn with getting out of her stroller and playing. She was cold, once that sun went down it really got cold. She did move once we got to the pumpkin princess area. She was able to put on dress and look in the mirror. But like I said she was cold and just wanted to stay warm. I gave her my hoodie to wear and that helped a little. But we went on the cow train, went down the slides and just had some fun. Last but not least, we sat by there big fire pit and warmed up. Although the smoke from the fire kept blowing in our face. It was a fun evening for us and the kids. We even got to pick out a pumpkin, Tait wanted the biggest one he could find and cried when someone else took it. Kinni only wanted the small squash looking pumpkin. So we had to pick them out for them. Once we left they loved the ones we picked out. We now have some to carve later this week. If it was not so cold I think the kids would have played a lot longer. Oh well it was still fun.

Happy Valley,UT

Since moving to the Orem store for work, I have found out that Happy Valley is not all the Happy. Sure the people are a little more relaxed, and understanding but it does not have the energy that a big city has, they try hard but that protective bubble stays in tact. Now don't get me wrong, I use to think Provo/Orem area was "gods country" with the Cougars in town but I have now disacknowledge myself on this statement and realized its not much different then any where else. Its just Utah County! Its a little different around these parts, Its still covered from our side influence and problems. I kinda like the feel and low key environment. I will keep posting on this matter the longer I am here. Just know that Happy Valley is not always Happy!

Swine Flu

So McKinley has been sick the last couple of days with a cough and runny nose. So yesterday Alicen decided to take her to the doctor to get checked. I got a call at work saying the doctor thinks its Swine Flu. Without even testing her, the doctor said she had the symptoms of the flu. This news comes just before we go on vacation, we are not sure what to do. We don't even know if she has the swine flu at all. Its kind of strange to say you have something but not to check to confirm it. But needless to say McKinley might have the Swine Flu or Bird Flu or just the Flu. Its all the same just with different effects. In my opinion is there really any difference. I think not!! But it has officially hit our house. My parents have been sick all week too maybe they have it as well. You never really know.

ICS Orem

Just from the title of this blog you know where I am going with this. I have been moved to store manager of the Orem location. Last week I was called into a meeting with the executives of ICS to be asked to change jobs, I was asked to either go back out into the yard, or try store manager of Orem. Both jobs were not what I was looking for, I liked being in purchasing and being behind the scenes of the job. I liked my two boss- Ken and Bob, so I was not happy with the idea of moving. I was given a grand total of 24 hours to figure out what I wanted to do. I actually took about 48 hours and decided to come to Orem and see another side of the company.
My reasoning to come to Orem was not the half hour commute or the waking up an hour earlier to get to the store. It was to see the sales side of the company and grow in that aspect; then to work with my friend Chase (who works outside sales). The company thinks Chase and I can make Orem a big store, I believe that as well. It will take some time but it will get better.
This first week has been one of long days- I have to be at the store from 7:30 to 4:30 everyday, eat my lunch at my desk and have only a yard guy to talk to for half a day. Its been really a different atmosphere for me, I am actually starting to talk to myself and that might be a bad thing. At least I have kept myself busy with a horribly dirty store, the clean up has made the day go by fast. Then Chase has been in and out all week, which is nice. I am not use to slow and quite. Its been a good and bad experience so far, I know we are going into the slow season but I hope that it keeps somewhat busy or I might go insane. We will see how long I can handle "Happy Valley."

BYU Football 2009

Once again the Kettenring family and Cox's got season tickets for the BYU Football. It has been a good season so far. Although we are only about half way through. We have enjoyed driving to Provo on the weekends to watch the games. Although BYU has started to fizzle the last couple of weeks. At the start of the season their defense looked like a stone wall, nothing could get through the line, now a couple weeks later they are really soft and ineffective to stop anything. Its really sad, I hope they can get back to season start form. As for the offense, they need to hold onto the ball. Dont get me wrong Max Hall is a good QB but 10 interceptions is way too much for 5 games into the season. The sad thing is he is trying to make something out of nothing. I am sure he will get better as the season goes. They are still looking good at 4-1 and still nationally ranked. So go Cougars!!!

Freak'n Diabetic!!!

Since my last check up about a year ago, I decided to start eating better, exercise a little more and get myself in shape. My first step was to stop drinking my usual 100+ ounces of soda pop. From that time I have done just that. I got even more help once I graduated in the spring and did not have such a high level of stress. I have lost a total of 65 pounds with in this time frame. However with in the last month I found out that I had a little more help getting into shape and losing weight. I found out I am a Diabetic. Yes, a Freak'n Diabetic (as my Aunt LD would say). It has taken the breath right out of me. I figured that I was losing weight by exercising and dieting correctly, now I find that it might have just been the effects of diabetes. Its not a great feeling to know all that work was not successful. But I have come to realize I am what I am. Now every day I have to test my blood, keep dieting without eating the good stuff, and keep on exercising. It has not been to much of a change, other then the fact I have to explain diabetes to people because they think you have some horrible disease that contagious. My best friend even makes fun of me for it. Its a life style change but I think in the long run (if I keep it under control) it will be a good thing. But now I have joined the group and can call myself a "Freak'n Diabetic!!"
