UVU here I came!!
As of Monday, I am officially a enrolled student at Utah Valley University. I am now a Wolverine. I went from a Bruin to a Wolverine. I am really excited to get started on my Bachelors degree and get back into school. Although, going to a University is really nerve racking. But since I got moved to Orem to work, I figured that Utah Valley is the best way to go, (and the fact BYU is hard to get into). According to Andy Low (co worker who goes to BYU) I am now what he calls a "BYU reject!" I will gladly take that if it means getting my degree done. I am excited to start spring semester after being off of school for 6 months or so. This is yet another step the right direction for me and my family.
Christmas week
At work this week of Christmas week, I have learned a couple of things and figured I would share everything I have learned, done and seen. Lets start with work.
This week at ICS I have learned that the Orem store is a lot slower then Salt Lake store ever is in the winter time. Its just been so so slow that I am more tired when I get home then when I am super busy. I almost have cabin fever from being in the doors for such a long period of time. At least I have had Andy (co-worker) who is out of school for break to keep me company and entertained.
I have learned that its ok to wear BYU colors one day and Utah colors the next. I supported both teams in there bowl games this week. The only person that noticed was Andy and he really did not mind. He believe we need to support both schools during the bowl season. So yes, I wore blue/white one day and red/black the next. Although I felt weird and out of place on the second cloths selection. Congrats the the Cougs and Utes for winning there bowl games against the Pac 10. Maybe those wins and a hopeful win for TCU will give the BCS leaders some insight to the Mountain West Conference.
I also learned I am really horrible at board games. This week I lost three games of risk, once game of life and one game of scrabble. I just cant win. Over the last couple of years I have told people I hate board games and cant play them. Well this week karma came knocking. Sure enough, it holds true and I cant win.
I also came to realize that Christmas traditions cause more problems then they help solve. Old traditions take preference over new ones or one that want to be created. Its the way its going to be and stay. To me tradition is a big part of life, but if some are not set aside or stopped new ones cant be created to make the holiday spirit bright. Times change, so should traditions. But I will continue to please old traditions and wait on new ones for a later time.
I am also grateful for the Holiday season. It nice that it only comes only one time a year. I don't think we as humans could handle more then one. Its funny to see how the Holidays are a good thing and a bad thing. Happy consists of everyone being more friendly, cheerful and in tune with giving and sharing. On the flip side, the worse comes out in people, driving curiously is out the door, everyone is trying to get some where faster then the other (even if the weather is bad), every ones is looking for help or hand outs around the holidays and traditions (enough said).
I am grateful for this time of year and have learned this year that me and my own family don't put enough emphases on Christ in Christmas. I need to be better the next time around. I see that its more of a pagan holiday then a spiritual holiday of what it should be. Although, we have seen family and spent time with them which has made it nice. Merry Christmas everyone and Happy New Years as well.

Kettenring Christmas 2009
So the Kettenring family had their annual Christmas party this week. We first all met at a little place in Lehi to eat, called Emmett's and Ethel's. Its a little burger joint that has giant shakes and pretty good burgers. I would recommend it to anyone looking to try a new little place. We had a good time talking and eating. It was a meal that none of us should have had. Grease, Sugar, fat are three ingrediants not to be mixed with a bunch of dieters, and one freak'n. But it tasted so so good.
After we went to see the Christmas lights at Thanksgiving Point. I have to pose the question at this point: Is twelve people in a eight person Tahoe illegal? Answer.... Yes, but we fit everyone in the SUV anyway. We had eight adults, four kids and a little dog named Dash! It was fun to have everyone in the truck and be able to see the lights. My nephew loved looking at Dash, the kids loved the lights, the adults laughed at the kids reactions and some one (not to be named) wanted me to keep slowing down. In my defense I went as fast as the car in drive went. I barley touched the gas pedal. so there!!! After we saw the Reindeer that where on desplay. The kids loved looking at the reindeer, and playing in the snow they had around. The kids Kinni, Tait and Ethan liked the snow so much each of them had to try the hard, somewhat clean snow. Dirt never hurt right??
It was a fun filled night for a Kettenring party. Merry Christmas to all.

Frozen Tundra
I can not believe that over the last couple of days, Utah has been in the single digits for temperature or less in some places. It has been down right cold! I can not believe how cold it has been. At work, a couple customers have come in saying they have seen the weather down as low as -30 close to Delta. That is really impressive. I have not heard about that kind of cold since being in Alaska. And I know cold!! I hope it gets a little warmer, so the snow is good. The cold just reminded me of the frozen tundra up in the AK. So I figured I would blog about it.

Remember Pearl harbor
Tiger Woods
So everyone in the world is talking, blogging and emailing about Tigers big mistake. I figure I might as well add my two cents and thoughts on the subject. To me, I am not really surprised by this whole matter with Tiger Woods. Anyone that is surprised by this is crazy! He is a very famous athlete, not just in the USA but around the world; He travels all around the nation to attend tournaments, and he only grosses over a billion dollars. I am not condoning what he did as being right but we have attacked him like this is the first time an Athlete has done this. Do we forget that Football, Basketball, and Baseball players do it all the time with out getting so much as a sentence read about it on the nightly news. I also understand that he has been the poster boy of what an athlete should be, act and portray but he is human. We all have mistakes and trials. He just finally got caught and we want to destroy his reputation rather then just tarnish it a little. He is trying to fix his mistake, actually apologized (not really done by other athletes) and move on with his life. We need to do the same. That's my two cents on Tiger.
